Siam Orchid Thai Restaurant brings the best of Thai cuisine in Australia. Enjoy authentic Thai food on the restaurant’s veranda while taking in the stunning ocean view and refreshing ocean breeze.
The restaurant is inside a two-storey Queensland house fronted by beautiful gardens. The wait staff is friendly and offers first-rate service. If you like live music and karaoke, the restaurant offers that too.
Below are actual customer reviews of Siam Orchid Thai as culled from Trip Advisor.
Trip Advisor Senior Contributor “Mike F” likes the food at the restaurant but the karaoke singing not too much: “Good restaurant spoiled by too loud karaoke…excellent Thai food..It is generally well-spiced and flavoured, servings are generous, service on a quieter evening was prompt and friendly. Duck pancakes were beautiful, chicken red curry full of flavour, a barbequed duck stir fry sensational, basil, chilli and beef well-spiced,and coconut rice perfect..but the ambience of the place..was compromised by karaoke-style music led by an in-house singer crooning to pre-recorded backing..by the end of the evening the volume had increased to completely drown out our conversation, spoiling what otherwise had been a most enjoyable meal.”
Another reviewer, “jackbilly44” finds the restaurant cramped and the service sub-par: “The setting is in a converted house so it is quite cramped but cutesy. There is a singer who croons 50s and 60s tunes to a backing tape. They need the distraction because the service is very slow. The waiters are lovely but the kitchen cannot cope with a full house..We ordered the special salmon Choo Chee curry and we knew why it was special - the salmon was as tough as chicken..we asked for Thai hot and got Australian hot so that was disappointing.
Average meal made worse by slow service. Prices were on the high side for the quality we received.”
But reviewer “wendy p” had a different experience that was generally positive. They ordered take away and could only say that the food was “Excellent..fantastic.. full of flavour and good quality. Others we know have eaten in and say it was great service too and also excellent quality.”
Senior Contributor “moggiemo50” cites the restaurant’s “Wonderful food at great prices..it’s the best Thai meal..I had the Chicken Panang, everyone was jealous when they tasted it as it
was superb and at only $16.50 a bargain. Two had soups also superb and the massamans were also top class. It's in a pretty ordinary old Aussie house on the pacific highway, no frills and the old Thai guy singing Sinatra classics was very bad…if you in the area give it a try you won't be disappointed.”
