Travelling to the Gold Coast in August with your family would be best if you plan a getaway. Why? There is the BLEACH* Festival, the Whale Festival, and the Whale Watching Season. Everyone may anticipate having a good time and learning something new.

2023 BLEACH* Festival

If you have yet to experience the BLEACH* Festival, now is the time. It runs for 11 days, from August 3 to August 13, and features a variety of contemporary art programming for a broad audience in the Gold Coast's famed natural setting and unique locations.

The BLEACH* Festival celebrates the city's artists and well-known national and international collaborators who present unique artistic and cultural experiences that inspire visitors and locals alike.

If you want to catch the festival's opening, go to North Burleigh Beach. Enjoy the performances of violinist Véronique Serret and Kalkadunga man William Barton at First Light - Heartland on August 3. It is an emotional fusion of didgeridoo, poetry, and traditional songlines.

The next day, live music at the North Burleigh Hub adds excitement. The Gold Coast Music Awards nominees are among the stellar musical lineup. Consider this the epicentre of positive vibes. It is open from Friday through Sunday throughout the event, specifically from August 4 to 6 and 11 to 13. You can catch these and more BLEACH* Festival events.

Whale Watching Season

In addition to these captivating contemporary art events, the whale-watching season is also in full swing on the Gold Coast. The season for whale watching runs from late May through early November.

You can observe the magnificent Humpback Whales in their natural environment next to the Gold Coast skyline. Burleigh Hill, near Burleigh Beach, is one of the many places in Burleigh where you may see these fantastic creatures. Prepare a lovely picnic for the family, and remember your binoculars or DSLR to capture the moments.

You can also get a great vantage point from Tumgun Lookout. From either Burleigh Point or the Tullebudgera Creek bridge, the Tumgum viewpoint is an excellent and short distance away. Additionally, it offers expansive ocean views.

2023 Gold Coast Whale Festival

Additionally, on August 12 at Burleigh Heads, you may attend the 2023 Gold Coast Whale Festival to learn more about these magnificent animals. The festival, presented by Humpbacks and Highrises (HHR), aims to raise awareness of the waters and the spectacular whales that pass by the Gold Coast every year in the neighbourhood.

In addition to numerous educational activities for children, there will be live music and science discussions. Be at Justins Park from 10 am to 4:30 pm.

Book a stay at Burleigh on the Beach to make sure you get to go to the festivals you want to and take advantage of the whale-watching season!
