With its more laid-back seaside vibe, where sun-soaked cafes overlook legendary breaks and push bikes almost outnumber automobiles, the Southern Gold Coast is a terrific place to unwind. You may enjoy the area's beauty if you choose the best accommodation.
A lovely home away from home is Burleigh on the Beach, only 50 yards from Burleigh Beach's magnificent white sands. Each of our 24 contemporary Burleigh Beach apartments is self-contained and has everything you need for a fantastic getaway. In addition, Burleigh Heads National Park's lush rainforest is only a short stroll away, while Surfers Paradise's top-notch nightclubs, designer boutiques, and tourist attractions are only a 15-minute drive away.
However, that's not all. The area holds several fantastic events all year round. There are two incredible athletic events and a free movie screening at The Junction in November if you're coming over.
Gold Coast Beach 5s Spring Festival
On November 3 to 5, DAIKIN will present Australia's 7th Gold Coast Beach 5s Spring Festival at the stunning Greenmount Beach on the Gold Coast. With no line-outs, scrums, or conversions, Beach 5s is a 5-a-side sand-based tournament based on modified Rugby Union, Rugby League, and Touch Football rules. It's the same game you're used to, but only partially.
All are welcome to attend the Gold Coast event! You can sign up for a Premier 5s team or a social squad or show up and support from the stands! Entry is free for spectators. Every age group can enjoy it, from U12 Juniors through Men's and Women's. Premier Elite 5s Open Men & Women / Men Social & Sunset Afterparty are on Saturday. Sunday is for Beach 5's Youth and School.
FREE Movies at the Junction: Mao's Last Dancer
People gather, interact, communicate, dine, meet, and work in The Junction. They're open daily and offer delicious foods like brioche buns, croissants, muesli & chia cups, among other things. In addition, they have a giant screen that shows free movies. Mao's Last Dancer is on November 14.
The 2003 autobiographical biography of the same name by professional dancer Li Cunxin inspired the 2009 Australian film. Li Cunxin, an 11-year-old Chinese child destined to work in the fields, lives in a remote village commune in Shandong Province during Mao's Cultural Revolution. But Cunxin is selected to study ballet at Madame Mao's Beijing Dance Academy. Naturally, he is delighted to have been picked but sad to leave his family.
Dancers Chengwu Guo of the Australian Ballet, Chi Cao of the Birmingham Royal Ballet, and Huang Wen Bin portray Li Cunxin.
The Toronto International Film Festival had the movie's world premiere on September 13, 2009. If you missed the opportunity to see it during its wide release in Australia, this is your chance.
